Restaurant Toc al Mar

Aiguablava beach 7 min by car €€€

Toes-in-the-sand dining with a daily catch and a legendary paella. Reserve a sunset table well in advance.

Restaurant Sa Rascassa

A tiny hideaway above a quiet cove. Fresh fish, garden vegetables, and one of the best terraces in the area. Book ahead.

Hostal Sa Tuna

Classic fishermen's village restaurant. Order the suquet de peix and watch the boats come in.

Begur has some of the most beautiful coves on the Mediterranean. Parking can be tricky in July and August — arrive early or walk the Camí de Ronda.

The postcard beach — turquoise water and pine-edged cliffs. Crystal clear, great for snorkelling.

A tiny former fishing cove with whitewashed houses and a couple of beach restaurants. Magical at golden hour.

Sa Riera

The largest beach in Begur, with full services and rental kayaks. Good for families and longer beach days.

Aiguafreda

10 min by car Pebbles Snorkelling

No sand, but the clearest water around — bring goggles and watch the fish among the rocks.

Fornells

8 min by car Quiet

A small, calm cove next to Aiguablava. Yachts moored in the bay and a wonderful seaside restaurant.

Walking distance Free

A short uphill walk from the village. 360° views over the coast and the inland Empordà plain — go at sunset.

Camí de Ronda

Must try
Coastal path · 2–4 h

The historic coastal trail. Try the Sa Riera → Sa Tuna stretch (about 1h30) or push on to Aiguablava for a longer day.

Wednesday market

Begur centre · mornings

A small but lovely weekly market with fresh produce, olives, cheeses, and local crafts.

15–20 min by car

Two of the best-preserved medieval villages in Catalonia. Cobbled streets, wine bars, and lovely restaurants — perfect for a long lunch.

Islas Medes (boat trip)

From L'Estartit · 25 min by car

A protected marine reserve. Glass-bottom boat trips, snorkelling, or diving among groupers and barracudas.

Empúries

35 min by car

Ancient Greek and Roman ruins on the beach. Combine with lunch in L'Escala (try the anchovies — a local specialty).

Cadaqués & Cap de Creus

1h15 by car

A longer outing but worth it: Dalí's whitewashed seaside village and the wild rocky cape at the easternmost point of Spain.

Closest

A small local supermarket near the beach for groceries, fresh bread, and morning essentials — the handiest shop for everyday needs.

Beach shop — Sa Riera

For everything you forgot to pack: towels, parasols, inflatables, sunscreen, swimwear, and toys for the kids.

Supermarket — Begur

Spar and Caprabo in Begur centre, open daily. There's also a smaller fruit shop just off Plaça de la Vila.

Pharmacy

Farmàcia in Begur centre, open Mon–Sat. A rotation pharmacy is on duty for nights and Sundays — see the cross sign for the nearest one.

Doctor / Hospital

Local clinic (CAP) in Begur for minor issues. Closest hospital: Hospital de Palamós (about 20 minutes away).

Petrol station

Nearest is on the GI-653 road between Begur and Palafrugell — about 5 minutes by car.

Recycling & trash

Begur uses a door-to-door collection system (recollida porta a porta). Put the right bin out the evening before — the service won't pick up incorrectly sorted waste.

What goes where

Glass Bottles, jars, perfume and cosmetics containers — no caps or lids.
Packaging Cans, clean plastic containers, cartons (tetra brik), bags, polystyrene trays, aluminium foil, aerosols, glass jar lids.
Organic Food scraps, fruit and vegetable remains, paper napkins, kitchen roll, tea bags, corks.
Paper Clean paper and cardboard, newspapers, magazines, flattened boxes.
Rest Nappies, sanitary towels, plasters, coffee capsules, cigarette ends, hygiene products, laminated paper, sweepings, ash, cat litter, animal waste.
Nappies, sanitary towels and pet waste can also go out on other collection days inside a separate black bag placed in the brown bin.

A few house rules

Registered guests only.

  • No parties, events or gatherings.
  • Quiet hours from 22:00 to 08:00.
  • No glass around the pool area.
  • Plastic cups and glasses are available.
  • No smoking inside the house.
  • Please respect our neighbours.
  • Pets only if previously approved.
  • Leave the barbecue clean after use.

Before you leave

  • Load any dirty dishes in the dishwasher and turn it on.
  • Empty the fridge.
  • Leave any uncollected rubbish under the stairs, where the bins are kept.
  • Leave the towels in the laundry room.
